New Hope United Methodist Church Leadership

New Hope United Methodist Church is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Following are brief bio's of our leadership team and their qualifications for ministry.

Rev. Sharon Cooper

Pastor

Rev. Sharon Matthews Cooper is the Pastor of New Hope United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, Ga. She received her calling from God as a small child. She links her CALL to the story in1 Samuel chapter 3. Even though she did not know who God was, she was able to recognize that she was being spoken to by a VOICE that she did not yet know. At the age of 10 years, she gave her life to Christ at Hartford UMC. She loved reading the Bible and discovering something new daily from God’s word. .Pastor Cooper accepted her calling to preach the unadulterated Word of God and was Licensed by Pure Holiness Church of God by Bishop Stephen Ackey on October 9, 2004 and ordained to preach the Word of God on May 23, 2010 by Reverend, Dr Eddie C. Mosley where she attended St. Paul Baptist Church Bible Institute. Reverend Cooper was one of the Associate Ministers at Hartford United Method Church under leadership of Reverend Frank Dean. She is currently enrolled in a course of study at Emory Theological Seminary as she continues to ready herself for the work of leading others to Christ. Her ministry of service has taken her to various churches where she has served in the capacities of Co-Pastor, Associate Minister, Sunday school Teacher, Youth Ministry Leader, church council chair,etc. She is an anointed teacher and preacher. Her first sermon preached was “Walking in the Spirit”. She continues to walk in the spirit as she leads her flock, here at New Hope. One of her most gratifying experiences since being appointed to New Hope has been the congregation’s involvement in building homes for the homeless through Square Foot Ministry.. By profession she is a nurse she received her certification from Connecticut Academy and has been in her profession for 25 years. She currently works in a pulmonary and sleep specialist department. Pastor Cooper is married to Reverend Harold Cooper who is a co-laborer in the gospel. She has two daughters Nekia and Yasmine, one son Jerome Ferrell and five grandchildren. Pastor Cooper’s desire is to stay humble and please the Lord in everything that she does, for it is not her ministry, but it is the Lord’s ministry; it is not her life, it is the Lord’s life. Her mission statement can be found in Matthew 6:33.
